TEN MONTGOMERY COUNTY STUDENTS RECEIVE FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Aug. 24, 2013 —

Ten Montgomery County college students received the Montgomery County Farmers Federation scholarship at Auburn University’s College of Agriculture’s annual Scholarship Recognition Program Aug. 24.

Those students are Kayla Sellers of Millbrook, agricultural communications; Ali Sikes of Lapine, poultry science; Martha Funderburk of Montgomery, horticulture; Mitchell Henry of Hope Hull, animal sciences; Elizabeth “Joy” Funderburk of Montgomery, horticulture; Paul Bartley of Montgomery, horticulture; Luke Carlson of Pike Road, forestry and wildlife; William Green of Hope Hull, forestry and wildlife; John Higgins of Mathews, environmental science; and Carla Weissand of Montgomery, animal sciences.

Henry and Sikes also received the Alabama Farmers Federation Scholarship and were honored at the Federation Scholarship Recipients Luncheon in Auburn earlier the same day. This year`s Federation scholarships were awarded to 23 high-achieving young men and women from Alabama who are pursuing agriculture-related degrees.

The Alabama Farmers Federation, Alfa Insurance and county Farmers Federations are committed to supporting the college dreams of students studying agriculture. These organizations donate thousands of dollars each year to students across the state.
