Current Office or Board: President, St. Clair County Farmers Federation
Previous Office(s) or Board: Member, Alabama Cattlemen's Association
About My Farm:
I own 250 acres and rent 400 acres in partnership with my son. We raise beef cattle, hogs and hay.
What I Like About Agriculture:
Being able to be outdoors most of the time is one of the best things about farming. I also enjoy working for myself.
The Biggest Challenge Facing Agriculture:
The lack of opportunities for young people to be able to farm is the biggest challenge I see. Government regulations certainly don't make it easy, though.
I'm Proud Of:
My family.
My wife, Lucille, and I met on a blind date and have been married 53 years. We have two daughters, Elaine and Marion, and one son, Frank. We have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
My Faith:
I am a member and deacon at Friendship Baptist Church. I am also singing chairman.
Education:
I attended college for two years at Jacksonville State University.
A Good/Bad Day Is...
There is no bad day. Every day is a day that the Lord has made, and we should rejoice in it.
Something You May Not Know About Me:
During 34 years of my farming background, I also worked off the farm.
