MAMA’S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup softened butter
1/4 cup shortening
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
6 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon water
1 egg
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup nuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. Combine butter, shortening, sugars, vanilla, and water. Beat until creamy; beat in egg. Add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cooking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned. Remove from oven and let cookies cool on baking sheet.
