2 cups sugar
½ cup milk
½ cup margarine
4 tablespoons cocoa
2 ½ cups quick-cook oats
¼ cup chopped nuts
¼ teaspoon vanilla
½ cup peanut butter (optional)

Place sugar, milk, margarine, and cocoa in a boiler and bring to a full rolling boil. Boil 1 minute 30 seconds; remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients until completely combined. Drop by spoonful onto waxed paper to cool.
