Mrs. Pernie’s Fried Green Tomatoes|
1 cup milk
1 cup yellow corn meal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning
4-5 green tomatoes, sliced ¼-inch thick
Oil for frying
In a shallow bowl combine eggs and milk. In a separate shallow dish, combine meal, flour and lemon pepper seasoning.
Dip tomato slices in egg mixture, then coat with seasoned flour mixture. Fry in hot oil a few at the time, turning slices until evenly golden.
Note: Reba says the tablespoon of lemon pepper may be adjusted to taste, but because it is the only seasoning added, she recommends a generous amount.
