ALABAMA FARMERS FEDERATION NAMES NEW EDITOR
MONTGOMERY A six-year veteran of U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency has been named county communications director for the Alabama Farmers Federation. Jeff Helms, 29, is the new editor of The Cultivator, an official publication of the Alabama Farmers Federation that provides agricultural updates and farm news to the organization's county leaders. A native of Jackson County, Helms has worked as an information specialist with FSA in Montgomery since 1992. He holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture journalism from the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. Besides editing the bi-weekly Cultivator, Helms will also serve as an associate editor for Neighbors, a monthly federation magazine with a circulation of more than 100,000. He also will write news releases and edit specialized membership publications. He and his wife, Laurie, live in Montgomery. Helms replaces Jamie Creamer who has taken a part-time job in Autaugaville.
