MONTGOMERY Despite continuing low prices that Alabama producers are being paid for hogs and beef cattle, prices in Alabama grocery stores showed increases for pork chops and chuck roasts, according to a food price survey conducted by the Alabama Farmers Federation Feb 1-5.

Pork chops averaged $2.75 per pound in this month's survey, while last month the price averaged $2.56. Bacon dropped from $2.21 per pound in January to $2.02 this month, but Boston butts jumped from $1.32 last month to $1.42 this month.
