WEBSITE PROVIDES MEMBERS LINK TO BENEFIT INFORMATION
"MONTGOMERY, Ala." It's now easier than ever for Alabama Farmers Federation members to get information about their benefits package, thanks to recent updates to the Federation's website, www.alfafarmers.org.
Federation Director of Public Relations and Communications Paul Till said the changes are designed to help members take better advantage of the benefits available to them.
"As the Federation continues to add value to Alfa membership, there's often a delay in getting printed information to our members about new programs and affinity partners," Till said. "The website complements our other member communications by providing a 24-hour-a-day link to the latest organization and agricultural information."
One of the website changes Federation members will find most useful, Till said, is a list of participating Auto Save dealers. By clicking on a drop-down box in the Member Benefits section of the website, members can view a list of dealers in their area where they can get discounts on tires and farm supplies. A handy link in the Member Benefits section also connects members to a list of participating Ariens dealers where they can get a 10 percent discount on lawn equipment. And, a link is provided to My Contact Lens Inc., www.mycl.com, where members can save on replacement soft contact lenses.
You don't have to be a Federation member, however, to appreciate some of the changes that have been made to the Alfa Farmers website, Till said. Additional links have been added throughout the site to improve navigation, and more photos are being incorporated into news stories to enhance readability. The Women's Division page has been revised and can be accessed from the home page by clicking on the Alfa Shortcuts drop-down box. Once there, visitors can link directly to the latest food price survey or e-mail the Women's Division director. Also in the Alfa Shortcuts menu is a link to the Federation's Ag Law Booklet, which provides farmers and landowners with useful information about their legal rights and responsibilities.
Members who want to take a more active role in their organization will appreciate changes to the Washington Update and Legislative Newsletter pages. From the Washington Update page, visitors can weigh in on important agricultural issues by e-mailing members of the Alabama congressional delegation. They also can keep up with statewide issues thanks to a link to the Alabama Legislature provided on the Legislative Newsletter page.
"We are constantly updating the website and exploring new ways to enhance its usefulness as a member benefit," Till said. "We think members will appreciate these changes, and we encourage them to keep visiting our site to see other improvements that currently are under development."
In addition to political news and member benefit information, the www.alfafarmers.org website includes agricultural news stories, recipes from the Federation's popular "Country Kitchen" magazine columns and access to the Federation's free online classified listing, "The Trade 'N Post." There's also a page with interesting facts about Alabama agriculture as well as individual pages for the Federation's Young Farmers program and commodity divisions.
