BUSH NAMES FIVE ALABAMIANS TO STATE FSA COMMITTEE
President Bush has named five Alabamians to the USDA's Farm Services state committee. The appointments follow the recommendations of Alabama's two Republican senators, Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions. Cynthia Williams Fain of Geneva was tapped by Bush as chairwoman of the Alabama FSA which handles programs including commodities, loans, disaster assistance, food assistance and export credit. Other appointees are John Calhoun Goodson Jr. of Brent, Murray Hood Harris Jr. of Courtland, Douglas Moore of Montgomery and Cecil Ralph Reaves of Camden. Danny Crawford of Athens was appointed state executive director earlier this spring. Crawford, who served as director of the Limestone County FSA Office for the past 24 years, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the FSA in Alabama. The State FSA Committee is charged with making program decisions including making requests for emergency assistance.
