Debra Davis
(334) 613-4686

MONTGOMERY John T. Jung has been named senior vice president and chief information officer for Alfa Insurance Co. Jung is a native of Wisconsin and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. He is a former resident of Half Moon Bay, Calif., where he was employed as senior vice president and chief information officer for California Casualty Management Company of San Mateo, Calif.

While at California Casualty, he was instrumental in the development of the company's e-commerce strategy and roll out of the first interactive web site. California Casualty provides auto and home insurance coverage to affinity groups, mainly in the Western United States.

Prior to his position in California, Jung served as vice president and year 2000 coordinator for Chubb and Son, Inc. of Warren, N.J. He is nationally known for his work in Y2K preparedness. He wrote and published a book on how to perform year 2000 conversion called "Not One Second More," and has appeared in the national media to discuss Y2K issues. Jung started his career in the systems department of the A.O. Smith Corp. of Milwaukee, Wis.

"We face many technological challenges in the future," said Lee Ellis, executive vice president of operations for Alfa Companies. "I am very confident that John, with his background and experience, will be very successful in taking these companies into the 21st century."

In his new position with Alfa, Jung will serve as the corporation's top technology officer where he will be responsible for all aspects of the companies computer and information systems.

"This is a very family oriented company, and I am excited about working here," said Jung, who began his new job Oct. 7. "This company has an excellent reputation for customer service and with the new millennium approaching, I look forward to delivering the technology to support those customers."

Jung and his wife Jan will be relocating to Montgomery and are the parents of four grown children.
