DEKALB COUNTY TRIO WINS TALENT COMPETITION
MONTGOMERY MOBILE, Ala. - An acappella trio from DeKalb County won the annual Talent Find Competition and $1,000 at the 78th annual meeting of the Alabama Farmers Federation in Mobile Dec. 6.
Leslie Sisk of Dawson, Kandi Odom of Collinsville and Josh Feemster of Boaz sang a medley of gospel songs during the competition which featured contestants from 37 counties. In addition to the cash award, the trio will perform at several agriculture functions throughout the state in the coming year.
The State Young Farmers Committee, a division of the Alabama Farmers Federation, sponsors the Talent Find competition. County competitions were held throughout the state earlier this year where winners earned the right to compete in the state contest.
Terri Harland of Moundville sang "Grace" during the state contest and was named first alternate. She received a $500 cash award.
Other finalists in the competition included Lauren Zoghby of Fairhope, Andrea Smith of Enterprise, Andy Goswick of Weogufka, Ashley Lanae Davis of Sylacauga and Sabrina Williams of Oakman.
Preliminary competition for the state Talent Find competition was held Monday and seven finalists were chosen to perform for the final competition which was held at the Farmers Federation closing session Dec. 6 at the Mobile Civic Center.
