TIDWELL NAMED DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATION FOR ALFA FARMERS
MONTGOMERY Mike Tidwell has been promoted to director of organization for the Alabama Farmers Federation. He began his new duties Jan. 1.
Tidwell joined the Farmers Federation staff in 1989 as director of the Young Farmers Division. Last year, he was named assistant director of organization and continued to serve as director of the Young Farmers Division. He will continue his former duties until a replacement is named.
As the director of organization, Tidwell will work with the state's 11 area organization directors and will assist the Young Farmers Division and the Federation's Women's Division.
Tidwell said he welcomes the challenge of his new position with the Federation.
"I will do my best to ensure a smooth transition and plan to move forward with the implementation of the strategic plan that was adopted at our annual meeting," Tidwell said. "I look forward to working with the area organization directors and the Young Farmers Division and Women's Division."
Prior to his career with the Federation, Tidwell was an agribusiness teacher at Marbury High School from 1982-1989.
He is a graduate of Auburn University where he received a degree in agriculture education. A native of Wadley in Randolph County, Tidwell grew up on a diversified family farm that included forestry and beef cattle operations. He is married to the former Beth Simpson of Centre and they have two children, Paula, age 5, and William, age 2.
