ALFA SPONSORS OUTDOOR TELEVISION SERIES
MONTGOMERY Alfa Insurance Company and the Alabama Farmers Federation today announced their sponsorship of Outdoor Alabama, a new television series scheduled to premiere Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. on Alabama Public Television (APT).
"We are proud to be able to support Outdoor Alabama," said Alfa President Jerry Newby. "Alfa was founded by farmers more than 75 years ago, and no one has invested more time and money to protect the environment and conserve our natural resources than farmers. We also pride ourselves in being an organization that promotes family values. This program promises to encourage stronger families by exposing them to activities they can enjoy together."
The magazine-style series will include programs on hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, mountain climbing and wildlife watching along with safety tips, preparation hints and biological information about Alabama's wildlife. Produced by noted conservation broadcaster Scott Bremish and filmed by award-winning videographer Dennis Holt of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the first episode will include features on bald eagle restoration, development of deer antlers and striped bass in Alabama.
Conservation Commissioner Riley Boykin Smith said he hoped the program would help Alabamians appreciate the economic and social value of hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreational activities.
"Through Outdoor Alabama, we hope to show the public that our stewardship and management of Alabama's natural environment are beneficial to all of us now, and for generations to come," Smith said.
The program is scheduled to air Sundays at 7 p.m. on APT, with repeat showings on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 6:30 a.m. Additional funding for the program was provided by Alabama Power Company.
