ALFA FARMERS NAMES NEW AREA ORGANIZATION DIRECTOR
MONTGOMERY Matthew Durdin, a native of Jacksonville, has joined the Alabama Farmers Federation staff as the Area 2 organization director. He began his new job Feb. 7 and replaces Paul Pinyan who was promoted to director of ag legislative programs for the Federation.
Area 2 includes Cullman, Fayette, Franklin, Marion, Walker and Winston counties.
Durdin, 27, is an Auburn University graduate with a Bachelor's degree in agriculture economics. He also has an associate of arts degree from Jeff Davis Community College. While a student at AU, he worked in the school's swine unit for two years.
Most recently, Durdin was employed by AGCO Corp., where he
worked for three years in ag equipment sales. He said he's looking forward to his new career with the Alabama Farmers Federation.
"I'm very excited to come to work for such a successful organization which is doing what I like to do- -- helping farmers," Durdin said. "It's great to be back in Alabama, and I'm looking forward to getting to know members and leaders in my area."
Mike Tidwell, the Federation's director of organization, said Durdin would be an asset to the members in Area 2 and the entire Federation.
"The year 2000 appears to be filled with opportunities and challenges in the farming industry," Tidwell said. "I believe Matthew is one of those who can assist us as we face those challenges."
