MONTGOMERY The Alabama Farmers Federation has awarded scholarships to 11 Alabama students who will attend Auburn University seeking degrees in agriculture or forestry.

The students include Nina Bauman of Henry County, Marcia Brand of Tallapoosa, Jennifer Elliott of Randolph, Casey Goolsby of Crenshaw, Bret Holliman of Dallas, Ellen Knight of Randolph, Jena Lassiter of Choctaw, Levi Plunkett of Marshall, Adam Pritchett of Dale, Anna Waters of Tuscaloosa and Christopher Williams of Blount.

Each scholarship was in the amount of $1,750. Applicants may reapply annually for the Federation's AU scholarships. Twenty students also received scholarship renewals from the Federation.

"As the state's largest farm organization, the Farmers Federation is proud to support bright young men and women who will lead agriculture into the next century," said Federation Executive Director Doug Rigney.

This is the 18th year the Federation has sponsored the scholarship program, which is designed to recruit high-caliber students into agriculture and related fields. In order for the annual scholarships to be renewed, the student should maintain a 2.5 grade point average and exhibit good moral character and citizenship.
