ALABAMA PSC ISSUES DROUGHT RELIEF PLAN FOR FARMERS
Alabama Public Service Commissioner Jan Cook has announced a Drought 2000 Relief Plan in an effort to help farmers with unusually high electric bills. The plan allows farmers served by Alabama Power Company to work out a payment plan suitable to his or her needs. "I realize that some farmers will have larger utility bills because of the extremely hot weather and severe drought conditions," Commissioner Cook said. "With the beef, cotton, poultry and row crop industries in the straits they are now in, I just had to do something." Only farmers using Alabama Power are eligible for this plan.
