TOP BAKERS COMPETE IN HERITAGE COOKING CONTEST
"MONTGOMERY, Ala., - " Some of the state's top bakers were in Montgomery today to compete in the 27th annual Heritage Cooking Contest sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation Women's Division. Each year, contestants compete in a pre-determined category. This year's category was cakes.
All contestants in the state contest were winners in the home county contests earlier this year. At the state level, Nancy Garrison of Cullman County won first place and $150 with her Strawberry Pecan Cake. Marilyn Williams of Cherokee County won second place and $100 with her Lemon Cake Roll, and Chris Green of Montgomery County won third place and $50 with her Carrot Cake.Click here for a copy of all the cake recipes in the Heritage Cooking Contest.
