NATIONAL PEANUT BOARD ANNOUNCES BOARD MEMBER ELECTIONS
"HEADLAND, Ala. - " An election will be held Aug. 28, 2002 at the Wiregrass Substation in Headland for an Alabama board member and alternate position on the National Peanut Board.
The terms for the current board members and alternates in these states expire at the end of this year. Certified peanut producing organizations in Alabama, Florida and Virginia can be contacted for additional election information.
Once nominations are submitted to the USDA, the Secretary of Agriculture has 90 days to make appointments.
The National Peanut Board encourages eligible women, minorities and persons with disabilities who qualify as peanut producers to attend the meeting and run for nomination. Fair and equitable membership representation is a core value of the NPB. NPB works to ensure all of its efforts visibly demonstrate this commitment through membership, staffing, communication, research and international programs and materials.
