MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Commodity producers in the Alabama Farmers Federation elected state committee members in their 15 respective commodities during meetings earlier this week. About 700 farmers attended the three-day meeting.

State committee members help determine what research to support, how best to promote their products and direct lobbying efforts at the state and national levels. In some cases, these committees also oversee the distribution of producer-supported checkoff funds.

The Federation's newest commodity division, Hay & Forage Crops, was created last year and an interim committee was appointed to serve until producers met this month and elected 12 committee members to serve staggered terms.

Below is a list of newly-elected committee members and their home county. (* denotes new members. All others were re-elected to the respective committees.) All committee members serve three-year terms unless otherwise noted.
