ENDOWMENT HONORS FEDERATION LEADER
AUBURN, Ala. - An endowment is being created in Auburn University's Department of Horticulture in honor of former Alabama Farmers Federation State Horticulture Committee member Hoyt Adair of Moulton. The endowment will provide funding for a graduate student studying fruit and vegetable production. Dr. Charles Gilliam said the endowment will help Auburn University compete for high-caliber graduate students.
"This endowment would provide a supplement to the standard departmental assistantship, which would allow the department to recruit an outstanding graduate student in the fruit and vegetable area," Gilliam said. Gilliam called Adair "a very generous man" who supported the Horticulture Department and served on its advisory board. Funding for the endowment currently stands at $11,500--$600 of which was contributed by the Alabama Farmers Federation's State Horticulture Committee. The funding goal is $25,000. Persons interested in contributing to the endowment may contact Gilliam at (334) 844-3045. Checks designated for the Hoyt Adair Endowment may be sent to Mark Wilton at the Auburn University Foundation, 317 S. College St., Auburn, AL 36849. Make checks payable to the Auburn University Foundation.
