Applications are being sought for the 2004 summer institute sponsored by Alabama Agriculture in the Classroom. The program will be June 9-11 at the Adams Mark Hotel in Mobile and is open to teachers and support personnel involved in kindergarten through sixth grades. This year's theme is "From Raindrops to Crops."
Workshops will include integrated ag activities for grades K-3, a weather unit for grades 4-6, field trips to active farms and a presentation on incorporating farm experiences in the classroom.
Roundtrip mileage to the workshop location, lodging, meals and workshop materials will be furnished to participants in addition to a stipend.
Applicants must be full-time teachers or administrative personnel working with children in grades K-6. Workshops are limited to 90 educators, and applicants will be selected on the basis of an application form provided by the Alabama Agriculture in the Classroom Planning Committee. Applicants must be present at the workshop location from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, until noon on Friday, June 11, and must attend all scheduled activities.
Preference will be given to first-time participants; attendees of past Summer Institutes will be placed on a waiting list.
