ALFA DONATES $10,000 TO LOCAL RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF FUND
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A $10,000 donation from Alfa Insurance Co. will be used to help victims of fire and other disasters who receive aid from the American Red Cross of Central Alabama. Red Cross officials announced the donation today and said Alfa's contribution will be distributed by the Red Cross to victims in Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Elmore, Lowndes, Pike and Montgomery counties on an as-needed basis.

"We know that the value of this contribution will be far reaching to the victims of disasters in the central Alabama region," said Alfa President Jerry Newby. "As an insurance company we have seen first-hand the devastating impact fire and other disasters can have on families and communities.
These are our neighbors and we will do all we can to help support them during difficult times."
Governed by volunteers and supported by community donations, the American Red Cross is a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 chapters and Blood Services regions dedicated to saving lives and helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
"Rebuilding peoples lives and restoring quality of life to those affected by a local disaster whether fire, tornado or flood requires both time and money," said Denise Edmisten, public relations director for the Central Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross. "The Red Cross staff and volunteers provide the time, but it's only by contributions such as this generous gift from Alfa that funds assure the Red Cross 'will always be there.' We are most grateful to Alfa for this gift."
Alfa Insurance has service centers in all 67 counties of Alabama and has been a supporter of the American Red Cross both financially and through blood drive sponsorship.
