ANNUAL PEANUT GROWERS CONFERENCE SET FOR JULY 18-20
DOTHAN, Ala. -- Southern peanut growers can learn new ways to market their product and find out the latest in technology and legislation as they attend the Sixth Annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference, July 18-20th in Panama City Beach, Fla. The Southern Peanut Farmers Federation, including the Alabama Peanut Producers Association, sponsors the conference.
"This is a meeting that's very important, not only for growers but also for industry people that want to learn," Teresa Wilson, information specialist for the Alabama Peanut Producers Association (APPA), said. "The peanut industry is constantly changing and is affected by legislation, research, world trade, market demand and technology among numerous other factors."
Producers will be brought up-to-date on current issues affecting their industry, including business strategies and new technology. Sessions will include talks on how to use eBay for business, current consumer trends and attitudes, and farmers can learn how to develop a positive public image of their farms.
For the second year in a row, growers will be able to have a "Discussion with the Market Makers" in a town-hall setting where they will have direct discussions with a panel of industry experts.
In addition to all this, farmers will enjoy free time on the beach or a round of golf. For more information, visit the APPA website at www.alpeanuts.com or call Teresa Wilson at (334) 792-6482.
Formed in 1998, Southern Peanut Farmers Federation was established to allow southeastern peanut producers to speak with a unified voice. SPFF is comprised of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association, the Florida Peanut Producers Association and the Georgia Peanut Commission.
