ALFA FARMERS BEEF TOUR CANCELLED
MONTGOMERY, Ala.-- The Alabama Farmers Federation Beef Tour scheduled for Sept. 18-24 in Virginia has been cancelled due to Hurricane Ivan. Federation Beef Director Perry Mobley said Alabama farmers who were scheduled to participate in the tour requested the cancellation because they needed time to repair damage on their farms and salvage what remains of their crops. In addition, many of the farms the group was expected to tour in Virginia are expected to receive heavy rainfall--up to 10 inches--as the remnants of Ivan move through that area. "We are working with the airlines, hotels and other vendors to minimize the out-of-pocket expenses and to possibly reschedule the tour in November," Mobley said.
