SEMINAR TO FOCUS ON TAX ISSUES FOR STORM-DAMAGED TIMBER
Dr. Harry Haney, a recognized expert on timber taxes, will present two, one-day seminars on ways to reduce financial losses from storm-damaged timber caused by Hurricane Ivan. These seminars are aimed at helping tax professionals understand the tax laws impacting losses from this kind of event. A detailed explanation of recent changes to the tax code regarding the "retained economic interest" provision in Internal Revenue Code Section 631(b) of the tax code also will be presented.
The seminars will be Saturday, Dec. 11 and Monday, Dec. 13. Both seminars will be at the Mobile Bay Convention Center, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in Mobile. Continuing education credits will be available for certified public accountants, attorneys, and registered foresters. The cost for these seminars will be $90 per person.
