BEEF SHORTCOURSE SET FOR JAN. 7-8 IN AUBURN
A two-day shortcourse designed to help Alabama beef producers will be held Jan. 7-8 at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center. Registration starts at $85 for the two-day course and must be postmarked by Jan. 3. Late registration cost is $100. Dr. Derrell Peel of Oklahoma State University will present "Issues that will shape the U.S. Beef Industry." Dr. Dan Givens of Auburn University will discuss health concerns including BVD and Johnes in Alabama. Dr. John Lawrence of Iowa State University will speak on beef cattle marketing, while Dr. Sandy Johnson of Kansas State University will speak on the cost of artificial insemination and natural service sires. Participants will tour the new Alfa Services Building, the Lambert-Powell Meats Lab and the Stanley P. Wilson Beef Unit at Auburn University. The event is sponsored by the Auburn University Department of Animal Sciences and the Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association.
