PEANUT PRODUCERS VOTE TO CONTINUE CHECKOFF
Peanut producers across the state made a strong statement in support of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association (APPA) earlier this month as growers passed a referendum to continue the commodity check-off program which funds APPA. On April 5, growers voted 154-0 in favor of continuing the $2.50 per ton check-off program. The balloting is held every three years under the provisions of Act No. 108 of the Regular Session of 1957 Alabama Legislature. To be eligible to vote in this referendum, an individual must have produced peanuts within the last three years (2002, 2003 and/or 2004).
