FARMERS SOUGHT FOR MARKET AT EASTCHASE
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Produce farmers will have an additional market in one of the state's new upscale shopping centers located in east Montgomery. Located in the north parking lot at The Shoppes at EastChase lifestyle center, the market will be open Saturday's from June 4 - Sept. 24. Dedicated to bringing the finest and freshest locally grown produce, flowers and home prepared packaged food, the EastChase Market works with the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, Alabama Farmers Federation, and local farmers to promote the "Buy Fresh, Buy Local" campaign. Federation Horticulture Director Brian Hardin said farmers interested in having a booth at the market should contact him by May 27 at 334-613-4217 or email bhardin@alfafarmers.org. Farmers will pay a fee for booth space, by the week or by the season. Participating growers are required to have a growers permit and all vendors selling packaged food are required to have a food processors' permit. Market hours are 7 a.m. - noon for the season.
