CARLISLE ELECTED PRESIDENT OF AQUACULTURE GROUP
Alabama Farmers Federation Commodity Department Director Jimmy Carlisle has been elected president of the National Association of State Aquaculture Coordinators (NASAC). He will serve a two-year term. Carlisle, who had previously served as vice president of NASAC, has been director of the Federation's Catfish Division and the Alabama Catfish Producers for more than 20 years. NASAC is an affiliate of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. It is charged with managing programs to enhance commercial aquaculture growth. The association's mission is to "enhance communication and resolve conflicts within and among federal, state and international components of the aquaculture industry, while being a strong advocate for responsible development." NASAC is regularly asked for opinion and comment by the federal government's Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture, the U.S. Congress and other groups striving to expand the industry.
