Jerry A. Newby, CEO of Alfa Corp. and president of the Alabama Farmers Federation, opens Thursday's NASDAQ trading.
NEW YORK CITY -- Alfa Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Jerry A. Newby opened The NASDAQ Stock Market on Thursday, Dec. 22, as members of his family and members of Alfa's management team looked on.

The event marked Alfa Corporation's 20th anniversary of trading on The NASDAQ Stock Market.

"Over the past 20 years, Alfa has evolved into a broad-based regional company, entering new markets and further expanding its products and services," Newby said prior to the opening ceremony. "Alfa's financial performance has been a distinct advantage for our customers and our investors. Consistent conservative management practices, disciplined underwriting, a strong loss ratio and solid earnings performance -- all speak to the company's financial strength and have formed a strong foundation for the progress we envision in future years."

Among management team members participating in the opening ceremony were Executive Vice President of Operations Lee Ellis and Chief Financial Officer Steve Rutledge.
