ALFA NAMES NEW MARKETING EXECUTIVE

MONTGOMERY, Ala., March 21, 2006 -- Alfa Corporation and the Alfa Insurance Group today announced the appointment of Herman T. Watts as executive vice president--marketing, effective immediately. Watts will have leadership responsibilities for approximately 1,500 agents and customer service representatives. He fills the position previously held by Wayne Hawkins, who passed away earlier this month.Watts has been a district sales manager with Alfa since he joined the company in 1978. He has earned Alfa's Top District Manager honor for 15 consecutive years. "Herman is a team builder and has consistently demonstrated his ability to motivate the sales force in his district," said Jerry A. Newby, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Alfa. "I'm confident he will have the same results and positive influence over the company's entire sales team and help build a stronger Alfa." Prior to joining Alfa, Watts was a high school basketball and football coach. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in school administration from the University of Montevallo.
