COLLARD PRODUCTION MEETING SET APRIL 20 IN TYLER
TYLER, Ala. -- Vegetable growers will hear recommendations on collard production, plasticulture and drip irrigation April 20, noon to 3 p.m., as the Alabama Cooperative Extension System hosts a Blackbelt Area Collard Production Meeting in Tyler at the new home of Down South Foods. Other topics on the agenda include insect, weed and disease control. Special guest speakers include Don Wambles, director of the Alabama Farmers Market Authority, and Jay Minter, the new owner of Down South Foods, who will explain about Down South Foods' operations and marketing opportunities for area collard growers. Lunch will be served and the meeting will conclude with a tour of the processing facility and fields. Down South Foods is in the former J.A.
