BROILER LITTER FIELD DAY SET JUNE 29
CROSSVILLE -- Poultry litter application, conservation tillage and manure management for soybean and corn are among topics on the agenda June 29 when the Sand Mountain Research and Extension Center in Crossville hosts the Sand Mountain Broiler Litter Field Day beginning at 9 a.m.
The research field tour will address poultry litter application rates and times for field corn production, additional phosphorous for blooming plants, potential of gypsum to reduce soluable phosphorous in pasture runoff, and current and future research needs in broiler litter management.
Among speakers will be Dr. Joyce Tredaway Ducar of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Dr. Frank Owsley, Dr. John Fulton and Tony Dawkins.
Producers attending the field day will receive five credit hours of CAWV/CAFO continuing education units. The first 100 growers to pre-register will receive a free Environmental Stewardship in Broiler Production handbook.
