FLORENCE PRINCIPAL IS ALFA TEACHER OF MONTH FOR JULY
FLORENCE, Ala. -- Principal Bill Griffin believes all students can succeed both academically and behaviorally.
Principal of Florence Middle School since 2000, Griffin has adopted an "open-minded approach to schooling."
His success with this administrative philosophy has earned him recognition for the month of July as part of Alfa's Teacher of the Month program. As this month's winner, Griffin will receive a $1,000 check from Alfa Insurance and his school will receive a matching award from the Alabama Farmers Federation.
As part of his approach, Griffin has established six academic teams, each with a team leader. Team leaders regularly meet to discuss issues and work to solve problems within the school.
"As a school leader, Mr. Griffin includes parents, teachers, students and community members in the decision-making process," said Superintendent Kendy Behrends.
Griffin also developed the "It Pays To Be At School" program to reward students with exceptional attendance.
This year, Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation will recognize one teacher from each state school board district as well as two private school teachers and two principals.
Application information is available online in the Ag Links section of alfafarmers.org under "Alfa Teacher of the Month."
