TOMBIGBEE RIVERBANK EROSION MEETING SET
Issues of water management, sedimentation, water craft enforcement, and formation of work committees are among topics to be discussed July 27, 6 p.m., as the Alabama Clean Water Partnership holds its third of 12 stakeholder meetings to address stream bank erosion in the Tombigbee Basin. The meeting will be at the AOWA Training Center at the University of West Alabama in Livingston. Representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers will speak on water management issues, Dr. Andrew Simon of the National Sedimentation Laboratory in Oxford, Miss., will discuss sedimentation, and a representative from the Alabama State Marine Police has been invited to discuss enforcement. Working committees will also be formed, time permitting. Anyone wishing to speak at the meeting will be allowed four minutes to present his or her concerns, etc. Those wishing to speak are urged to have a written statement of their presentation to give to the meeting moderator. Anyone wishing to turn in a written statement without addressing the meeting may do so. Upon arrival at the meeting please sign in and state if you would like to speak or just turn in a written statement. To reach the AOWA Training Center from Interstate 20/59, head east on Highway 28. Go about one mile and take a right immediately past the Western Inn Motel onto Country Club Drive. Go about three-fourths of a mile and take the first paved road to the left (headed east). This road goes between two brick entry pillows, and past a new apartment building on the right. At the top of the hill, bear to the right on a slag road where the pavement ends. This will take you directly to the training center.
