TROY UNIVERSITY SENIOR HIRED AS INTERN

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation welcomed a new face this fall as Troy University senior and Miss Alabama Agriculture Melissa Moore serves as an intern. Moore is the daughter of Ricky and Kathy Moore of Deatsville.Moore works with both the Public Relations and Communications Departments. Her duties include writing short articles and feature stories for Federation magazines, including Neighbors. She also assists the vice president of public relations with media tracking and was involved in the kickoff of Alfa's new advertising campaign, "Let's Talk About Tomorrow." Moore is a broadcast journalism and public relations major and will graduate in December. While at Troy, she had the opportunity to gain valuable experience by serving as vice president of public relations for Delta Epsilon Iota honor society, anchoring "Trojan Vision News at Noon" and being a National Public Radio reader. She recently won three awards from the Public Relations Council of Alabama for work created during a public relations campaign. "As the granddaughter of a fifth-generation farmer, Melissa understands the importance of agriculture," said Jeff Helms, director of communications. "That background, combined with her eagerness to learn, will make her an asset to our organization. We look forward to working with her and watching her grow professionally." "I have thoroughly enjoyed representing the Federation as Miss Alabama Agriculture. Now I look forward to serving it in a different capacity," said Moore. "This internship will allow me to gain valuable hands-on experience in a highly competitive career field, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with such a high-caliber organization."
