LIVESTOCK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM DEADLINE WEDNESDAY
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is reminding Alabama livestock owners that the deadline for the USDA Livestock Assistance Program is Wednesday, Oct. 18. Farmers and producers who owned mature livestock located in the 31 counties specified by the USDA between March 7 and August 31 are encouraged to apply. Those counties are: Autauga, Baldwin, Barbour, Bullock, Butler, Chambers, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Dallas, Elmore, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, Tallapoosa, Washington and Wilcox. Applications are still available online at
www.AlfaFarmers.org and at the Department of Agriculture and Industries' website at www.agi.alabama.gov, at all ALFA Service Centers, Farm Service Agency offices, Natural Resources Conservation Service offices, County Agent and Extension Service offices, and stockyards. Applications should be postmarked by Oct. 18 and sent to: Dana Wallace, Department of Agriculture and Industries, P.O. Box 3336, Montgomery, AL 36109.
