FEDERATION URGES VOTERS TO GO TO POLLS TODAY
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- With the leadership in the Legislature, Congress and Alabama's court system on the line -- as well as statewide offices -- the Alabama Farmers Federation is encouraging its members to go to the polls today, and give thoughtful consideration to its list of endorsed candidates. "The county leaders of the Alabama Farmers Federation understand the vital role the Alabama Legislature and court system play in the prosperity of this state. That's why they decided three years ago to emphasize legislative and judicial races when endorsing candidates," said Federation President Jerry A. Newby. "The result is a slate of candidates we believe shares the goals, values and philosophy of the majority of our members." Newby said voter turnout would be critical in determining the outcome of Tuesday's general election, so it's vital that Federation leaders go to the polls and encourage others to do the same. "This is a very important election, which will set the direction of the state for years to come," Newby said. "If Alabama is to move forward, we must elect legislators who understand the big picture and have a desire to serve. We also must continue to elect conservative judges and retain those leaders who are doing a good job for Alabama." A complete list of legislative endorsements appears in the current issue of Neighbors magazine, and is available for download at the link below. The Federation's political action committee did not make an endorsement in every race.
