PEANUT PRODUCERS SET MEETINGS, EYE ANNUAL SHOW
DOTHAN, Ala. -- Alabama peanut producers will receive updates on industry issues and the farm bill as the Alabama Peanut Producers Association holds its annual production meetings, a series of five events scheduled throughout the state's peanut-producing areas. The meeting dates are: Jan. 25, 5 p.m., at the E.V. Smith Substation in Shorter; Feb. 26, 5 p.m., at the Wiregrass Substation in Headland; Feb. 27, 5 p.m., at the South Alabama Electric Cooperative in Troy; March 1, 5 p.m., at the Baldwin Farmers Federation Building in Summerdale; and March 2, 9 a.m., at the Creek Family Restaurant in Atmore. "Combined with these, we're having a 'legislative listening session' to update producers on peanut issues and the farm bill," said Randy Griggs, APPA executive director. "Also, we will give them a chance to provide input on their views on the program." The Alabama/Florida Peanut Trade Show and the APPA Annual Meeting are scheduled Feb. 1 at Dothan's National Peanut Festival. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. CST. Exhibits open at the same time. Lunch will be provided, and door prizes will be awarded. Exhibit spaces and more information on the trade show are available by calling Teresa Wilson at the Alabama Producers Association office at (334) 792-6482 or Sherry Saunders at the Florida Peanut Producers Association office at (850) 526-2590.
