CLEAN DAY WASTE COLLECTION SET FEB. 2

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Agriculture & Industries Commissioner Ron Sparks has announced a Clean Day Waste Pesticide Collection for Houston, Dale, and Henry counties on Feb. 2.

"The Clean Day Waste Pesticide Collection Program is a great service that helps farmers, small businesses, households, and other pesticide users to properly dispose of unwanted and unusable pesticides for free," said Sparks.

Unusable and unwanted pesticides and their containers must be disposed of according to label instructions. It is illegal to bury, burn, or discard a pesticide.

State-sponsored waste pesticide collections provide a means to remove these wastes and help pesticide users comply with the law while ensuring the safety of the community and the environment.

The Clean Day Waste Pesticide Collection Program is sponsored by ADAI along with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Cahaba, Warrior and Coosa Rivers (CAWACO) Resource Conservation and Development Council.

To participate in the program, pre-registration is required with your local county agent. For more information, contact Linda Brown at (334) 240-3713 or Ray Marler at (334) 693-3798.
