ACES LAUNCHES NEW DROUGHT WEB SITE
AUBURN, Ala. -- The Alabama Cooperative Extension System has launched a new Web site to help farmers better manage their resources during the current drought.
The site at www.aces.edu/issues/drought/ offers a status report of the drought, frequently asked questions on how to reduce water usage and news releases on whether to keep or sell your feeder calves, making silage from drought-stressed corn, hay alternatives for horses, how drought affects timber harvesting and wood inventories and drought information on row crops.
In addition, the site includes a listing for agents available for help and streaming video and audio presentations on drought impact on cattle and pond management. There are other presentations that deal with dairy operations during a drought.
