GRAPE GROWERS MEETING SEPT. 14 IN BIRMINGHAM
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Vineyard establishment, production practices and a luncheon and wine tasting sponsored by the Alabama Wineries and Grapegrowers Association (AWGA) will highlight a grape production meeting for the state's grape growers Sept. 14, 9 a.m., at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Gary Gray, regional Extension agent for commercial horticulture, said "Growing Grapes In Alabama" will begin with a welcome and introductions by Stan Roark and Dan Porch of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Other topics on the agenda include: "Pierce's Diesease: Biology and Transmission," "Bringing Your Food Product To Market," "Enology: What Does It Take To Make A Great Cynthiana?" and a roundtable question-and-answer session. The $10 pre-registration includes the lunch and wine tasting. A registration form and agenda may be downloaded below.
