EXCELLENCE IN AGRICULTURE CONTEST SEEKS ENTRIES
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Alabama Farmers Federation is seeking applicants for the annual Excellence In Agriculture Award, an award that strives to recognize those who promote agriculture through work, Federation or community involvement and leadership activities but do not receive their primary source of income from an agricultural enterprise.Contestants will make a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation to a panel of judges, followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer session. The 2007 Young Farmers Excellence in Agriculture contest will be held at the 86th Annual Meeting for the Alabama Farmers Federation in Mobile on Sunday, Dec. 2. The winner will receive an expense-paid trip to New Orleans where they will compete nationally at the American Farm Bureau Federation's annual convention on Jan. 13-16, 2008, courtesy of First South Farm Credit, $500 from Dodge and a matching award from the Alabama Farmers Federation. The national winner will receive a nicely equipped 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. Any member of an Alabama Farmers Federation Young Farmers County Committee between the ages of 18 and 35, but have not reached their 36th birthday by Jan. 31, 2008. Competitors must be actively involved in agriculture, but do not receive their primary source of income from an agricultural enterprise. Competitors must also meet all eligibility requirements of the AFBF. The entry deadline has been extended until Nov. 2.
