PROCESSING COMPANY SEEKS GOAT PRODUCERS
Zullinger Meats, Inc. a processing company that specializes in goats and sheep, is pursuing plans to begin processing goats, sheep and rabbits in Alabama. According to Federation Meat Goat Division Director Mitt Walker, the company's announcement could mean a great opportunity for Alabama producers. Additionally, the company is seeking information from producers to estimate the number of bucks averaging 40-50 pounds that might be available in the state that would be processed at the company's Pennsylvania facility in the immediate future. Walker said he hopes producers will be paid $1-$1.10 per pound, but added that the price will be negotiated once the available number of animals has been estimated.
