CHILTON AREA PEACH PRODUCTION MEETING SET
CLANTON -- Extension System horticulturist Bob Boozer will speak on "Peach Integrated Pest Management, Chill Hours and Production Updates" on Thursday, Jan. 24, when the Chilton Area Peach Production Meeting is held at Alabama Power Company's Clanton Conference Center. The meeting is set for 5 to 8:30 p.m. Other speakers include Extension fruit specialist Dr. Elena Coneva, who'll speak on "Use of Ethrel to Thin Peach Fruitlets: Preliminary Results." Jim Pitts and Matthew Price, both of the Chilton Research & Extension Center in Clanton, will offer an update of the CREC's research. Brian Hardin, director of the Alabama Farmers Federation's Horticulture Division, will also offer an update of its activities. The Alabama Power Co. conference center is at 2030 7th St. S (about one-half mile north of I-65 Exit 205 on US Hwy. 31). Since dinner will be served, early registration is encouraged.
