ALABAMA-FLORIDA PEANUT TRADE SHOW SET FEB. 7
 | | The Biodiesel Classroom on Wheels was developed as a collaborative effort by the Alabama Dept of Agriculture commissioner Ron Sparks and Alabama A&M University to be used as a mobile classroom on wheels and will be used to educate the public about small to medium scale biodiesel production using a variety of available feedstock. It will also serve as a platform for Alabama A&M research and development of processing oilseed crops from test plots. |
DOTHAN, Ala. -- What's the latest in agriculture technology for peanut producers? You'll have to attend this year's Alabama-Florida Peanut Trade Show, Thursday, Feb. 7, at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds in Dothan to get a glimpse of just what may be down the road for peanut producers.What COULD be "down the road" is the Biodisel Classroom a Wheels, a traveling demonstration build by Biodisel Logic of Albertville and made possible by a collarborative partnership between Alabama A&M University and the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries' Center for Alternative Fuels. The classroom, which provides an in-depth look at how biodiesel fuel may be produced and inform public officials, business leaders and others across the state as to the ease of the biodisel process, will be one numerous demonstrations available for trade show attendees. "There is a lot going on in the agriculture and the peanut industries and this trade show will give growers, and others involved in the industry, a chance to come together to discuss what could be down the road as far as agriculture," said Randy Griggs, executive director of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association. "We strongly encourage growers in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi to come be a part of this trade show." Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. - central time and exhibitors will open their booths at the same time to welcome in the attendees to the 2008 show. This will mark the third year of the trade show coordinated by the Alabama and Florida Peanut Producer Associations. Lunch will be provided to those who attend and growers can register for door prizes exhibitors including $500 cash from Kelley Manufacturing Company, a certificate from Amadas Industries for a $10,000 credit on a self-propelled combine, $5,000 credit on a pull-type combine or $2,000 on other Amadas equipment. "On behalf of both APPA and FPPA, I'd like to welcome all growers and industry interests to the trade show that will feature numerous exhibitors there to assist growers," Griggs said.
