MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Youth from across the state are expected to compete Saturday in the Alabama 4-H/FFA Market Hog Show at the Teague Arena in Montgomery's Garrett Coliseum Complex.Bob Ebert, a youth livestock specialist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, said the event could be the largest in almost a decade with more than 100 hogs expected to be entered. Contestants, all either members of a 4-H Club or FFA chapter and ranging in age from 9 to 19, will demonstrate their abilities to show their hogs and compete in classes that evaluate the overall quality of the animals and test their own swine agri-knowledge. Champions will be selected in three age divisions, and win a $500 scholarship from the Alabama Pork Producers, a division of the Alabama Farmers Federation.
