WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Alabama Farmers Federation National Affairs Director Keith Gray has been appointed by the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors to the organization's General Counsel Advisory Committee.

The GCAC is composed of five state staff members, three attorneys and two non-attorneys who act as a sounding board of sorts and provide guidance to the AFBF general counsel in its legal advocacy program.
Each committee member serves a two-year term. Gray represents the Southeast Region on the GCAC.
"The legal advocacy program was created as a way to monitor court cases in order to prosecute and defend actions in court for the protection of farmers and ranchers and their property," Gray said. "The program has a budget, files briefs on behalf of state farm bureaus and AFBF, and monitors court cases that have potential public policy implications."
Gray said he's excited about serving on the committee, adding it assures Southeastern farmers they will be represented, and issues outside the southeast that could impact farmers here are monitored closely.
