DOVE FIELD MANAGEMENT SEMINAR AUG. 28 IN CULLMAN
CULLMAN, Ala. -- Professional wildlife managers and agronomists will speak on dove ecology, how to plant a dove field, managing harvest, field preparation and the law, liability issues and opportunities for diversifying farm income through leasing at a dove field management seminar Thursday, Aug. 28, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at Camp Meadowbrook in Cullman. "Dove Field Management: For Recreation and Farm Income Diversification" is sponsored by the Wildlife and Fisheries Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation in cooperation with the North Alabama Horticulture Research Center and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. After the seminars at Camp Meadowbrook, the workshop participants will visit the North Alabama Horticulture Research Center for lunch and a tour of the center's dove fields to learn how to establish a dove field. Participants will also learn how to calibrate seed drills and spreaders and how to take soil samples properly. The event is $10 for adult and free for children, but all must register by Aug. 25 as space is limited. The registration fee includes snacks, lunch and educational handouts.
