AIDB TO HOST BIODIESEL EDUCATION PROGRAM
TALLADEGA, Ala. -- The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) and the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) will conduct a biodiesel education program at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at AIDB's Transportation Department. The AIDB biodiesel program, called Project Green, has the support of local and state government officials. Ron Sparks, ADAI commissioner, and State Rep. Steve Hurst will be in attendance.
Project Green is a community outreach project for individuals, businesses, restaurants and school systems with potential applications for work experience opportunities and public education on alternative fuels. In addition to the educational benefits, Project Green is expected to reduce AIDB's monthly diesel fuel bill. Currently AIDB spends more than $14,000 a month in diesel fuel for equipment and vehicles.
